Will Art, Music, and PE be included for Distance (at home) Learning students?
Our goal is to provide a well-rounded, quality online experience for our Distance Learning students. Elective offerings may vary by grade-level. We are making every effort to provide more detailed, grade-specific information next week to those considering the Distance Learning option so that they may make an informed decision for their student(s).
When will we know if students choosing Distance Learning can take advanced courses?
[Updated 7/16/20 11:50 am] We will do our best to provide each distance student with the courses that best suit his/her academic goals; however, some advanced course offerings may not materialize based on many factors currently unknown. We are making every effort to provide more detailed, grade-specific information next week to those considering the Distance Learning option so that they may make an informed decision for their student(s).
What will be the quarantine process for a student testing positive for COVID-19?
Quarantine procedures will be based on currrent ADPH guidelines at the time of the diagnosis. Currently, (7/15/20) ADPH recommends a 14 day quarantine. For more information, visit https://www.alabamapublichealth.gov/covid19/faq.html.
Will distance learning be the same as the close of last year? What will online learning look like?
[Updated 7/16/20 11:50 am] Typical online assignments during the Spring of 2020 were assigned on Monday and due on Friday. The new distance learning model may require daily interaction. For parents who declare the Distance Learning option, students will not work at their own pace. Students will be assigned to a virtual classroom that is facilitated by a Satsuma teacher. It will be the responsibility of the parent and student to meet the deadlines set by the teacher. Lesson will be completed and assignments will be submitted based on due dates established by the teacher.
We are making every effort to provide more detailed, grade-specific information next week to those considering the Distance Learning option so that they may make an informed decision for their student(s).
